Steve Richardson planted an acre of cucumbers when he was 13 years old, and got hooked on growing vegetables.  He retired from his job as a Mississippi County Extension agent a few years ago, and now grows a lot more than cucumbers on his 60 acre farm in Tyro, Mississippi. Steve’s beautiful canteloupes will be plentiful at Saturday’s market. Ask about a super sweet variety called ‘Aprhodite’, & check out his watermelons.   Steve is growing 8 different varieties, and all are sweet and wonderful.  ‘Stars N Stripes’, ‘Sangria’, ‘Allsweet’ are traditional juicy watermelons.  ‘Goldstrike’ has an orange flesh, ‘Sugarheart’ and ‘Wonder’ are seedless, and ‘Tasty Gold’ and ‘Yellow Crimson’ are beautiful yellow fleshed.

See Steve and  Richardson Vegetable Farm at the market this Saturday, and take home one of each for a taste test of watermelons!
